Is it Romance or Romantic

What’s your definition of romantic?

If you ask anyone in a relationship or not in a relationship, you will get different answers.

Romantic or romance is when an individual thinks about love, does, and says things that show strong feelings towards the other person.

Romantic examples include:-, taking a walk around the neighborhood or a beach,  holding hands while feeling the sand go through our toes, slow dance to some R&B, listening to Jazz music, laying on the hot sand while sipping some adult beverage, basking in the sun, playing the guitar, taking kodak captions of one another, spending time together talking about old stories, watching movies, smelling the flowers, eating strawberries soaked in chocolate, chocolate silky pudding 🤣, cooking a delicious meal, candle dinners, watching the sunsets, igniting our sense of Smell through perfume or cologne etc. The list is endless and varies from one individual to another. Kindly share yours ☺️;).

Romance or romantic scenarios with my fellow countrymen, the kikuyu man, will look and feel different 😅😅. I will speak from what I have observed or seen. Don’t get me wrong, I love you all, my kikuyu brothers. However, there are some elements that you all need to pull your boots straps. When the kikuyu man calls his so-called person, wife, girlfriend,  concubine, fiance  or mother of their children, they are referred as through the position they hold-title;-nyina wa ciana or will refer her by one of their child names example, nyina wa githethendu. 😂😂. Now tell me Atii iyo nii Romantic glow ✨️ 🤣🤣. How now?!. acha.

This woman, nyina wa ciana or nyina wa githethendu is polished in her elegant evening gown, black dress, or Cinderella dress, lipstick  poured on her lips matching her skin tone. Eyelashes are  on point brushed to the core, nails filed, hair cut or hairdo can cut a fly 🤣😂. Finally, her smile fills the room.

In that moment, my kikuyu brotha will get the cheers, high 5 from his fellow men, maboyz Atii, wee wena key hau. njaba wee wa nguvu 🤣😂 because he used the title  nyina wa ciana than the woman’s name. How now?!. 😅☺️.

Fast forward to the kikuyu woman. Her ideology of romance is when the man, njamba, takes her out for a bite. The place they go to is of his choice and not of her choice. Sanford & son’s, wimpy, or kenchick are common joints. These places, the menu, are chips and chicken, fish and chips ,chips, and sausage with salad, some salt, and tomato sauce mixed in😂😂. The outing is crowned na soda ya crest, bitter lemon, or stoney 🤣. My best part 😅 😂. I can not say it is not the best because if that is the maximum effort the kikuyu man can reach, effort yake na nii mwisho wake, then he has served his woman wholeheartedly.

Romantic, according to mimi Waruguru, is when you are called by your name, mimi, Waruguru,  Florence, Jane, Njeri, Wahome,  Nyoike or whatever your name is. Then, it is followed by what you are up to today or some statement showing interest to the other person needs.

Lastly, the Romantic session can be sealed with words of encouragement,  affirmations, or what suits you both. Make your own little heaven down here ❤️. This needs to be a two-way traffic to serve your romantic relationship and keep it to a healthy place.

I have heard and seen people who call one another by these examples my pet, sweetheart,  my cookie, my chocolate,  honey, darling, my buddy, my friend, my cantaloupe etc. If those juicy, sweet names are working out for your romantic life, proceed and continue to press on. I only caution ⚠️ others when we mimic other peoples ways of romance or romantic  scenarios, and they backfire on us.

Exploring the path first so that when steps are missed, there are opportunities to regroup, reinforce, or retract ourselves.

A strong foundation that has been built and rebuilt out of resilience and friendship, it will take effort and work for the relationship to thrive.

Romance only exists when there is love.

Anais Nin once said- “Love never dies a natural death.” It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness, errors, and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; It dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.”

With much love ❤️
